So you are separated from your spouse- the person whom you promised to be with forever. And now you realize you still love this person and want him back. What can you do?
Unless your spouse is already legally committed to someone else, you can still get this person back. If you want to make it happen, here are 4 strategies you should use:
1. Do not force things to happen.
The more you demand to get back with your ex, the more he will hold back. Do not use desperate measures to win this person’s heart. What you can do is to simply (and calmly) talk to your ex, tell him how you feel, and anything else that you want him to know without seeming to be demanding or manipulative.
2. Show commitment, not desperation.
Do not confuse the two; the former is something positive, and the latter is something negative. You do not want to drive your ex farther and farther away by seeming needy and desperate. You need to show confidence and independence, as well as self-esteem.
3. Give enough space.
You do not want to suffocate this person by calling several times a day, or making “surprise” visits way too often. It will become annoying, and may even upset him. Give him time to be on his own, and think for himself. This may take a long time, or it may be sooner than you think, but regardless of how long it is, you should not rush him.
4. Plan a meeting.
Of course, one way for your spouse to feel that you still love him is to make an effort to meet so you can catch up on things. You can arrange a meeting where you can talk, and maybe continue from where you left off.
A piece of advice: do not let your judgment be clouded by your emotions during this meeting. Remain calm and be open to expressing what you feel in a relaxed manner.
