6 Problems that Ruin Relationships

If you want to have a solid relationship that is built to last, you should be aware of the things that might hinder it. Here are six of them:

1. Acts of Selfishness

In a relationship, there has to be a balance. You need to give and take equally. You cannot just be the one “taking” all the time, otherwise this will make your partner think about how unfair you are and will decide to leave you.

2. Not Taking Responsibility for Mistakes

Mistakes do happen, and when they do, you should own up to it if you were the one at fault. You cannot blame others for your faults, no matter how big or small it is. Own up to it, apologize, and do your best to make sure you do not let it happen again.

3. Being Overly Jealous

Being jealous is fine, in fact, many people find little acts of jealousness cute and adorable. It makes the other person feel loved. However, too much of it is no longer something anyone would want because it can make your partner feel suffocated and will give them the impression that you are an insecure person, which is considered a “turn off” for most.

4. Insensitivity

You need to know when it is proper to do things, and when it isn’t. Though your partner may think it is OK to ridicule each other in private, ridiculing them in front of others is never a good idea. This will insult and hurt your partner and may even be the cause of a breakup.

5. Thinking that You are the Better Partner

People want to feel valued and important, but if you keep thinking that you are always better, that you know more than your partner in every way, then this will make them feel undervalued and unimportant. Praise your partner and appreciate them for the things they do.

6. Being Close-Minded

In any kind of relationship, being close-minded will never help you grow and develop. If you are always pushing for your own ideas without considering other people’s ideas, if you are not always open to feedback and constructive criticism then you are shunning others from developing a strong relationship with you. It will also prevent open communication with your partner and as you know, communication plays a very important role in your relationship.

Now that you know the most common relationship killers, it is time to examine yourself and find out if you are guilty of these. If you are then it is high time you do something about it now, before it is already too late.
